The Hillsborough County School Board on Tuesday approved Tiatasha Brown as the new principal of Middleton High School.

Brown, 41, comes from Shields Middle School, where she has been principal since 2015.

Brown joined the school district in 1998 as a teacher at Lee Elementary, which has since been renamed Tampa Heights Elementary. From there she moved to Buchanan and Tomlin Middle before joining Shields in 2013.

She replaces Kim Moore, who was promoted to the district’s director of administration.

In a letter to parents, Moore said of Brown, “she has taught all subjects with a specialty in math. Mrs. Brown grew up in East Tampa and knows the rich history of Middleton High School. She is excited to begin her new role.”

Moore also said that “Mrs. Brown has already been going through our school’s data in preparation and has a plan to continue moving our school forward.”
