Authorities responding to a Tampa fire Saturday night found two smoldering apartments and one person dead.

At about 8:20 p.m., deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a fire at apartments on the 5500 block of Tranquility Drive in Tampa. They found two apartments there "fully engulfed" in flames, a spokesman for the sheriff's office wrote in a release Saturday night. The source of the fire is as of yet unknown.

After Hillsborough County Fire Rescue put out the fire, police found a body in one of the apartments. Deputies did not name the victim, and they have yet to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing, HSCO said in the release.
