A man was hospitalized Thursday night after a "possible gator bite" at Barnett Park, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.

The Orlando Sentinel. reports that the man — believed to be in his 30s — must have gone into the water to retrieve something, potentially a Frisbee, when the incident happened shortly after 7 p.m., Fire Rescue spokeswoman Ashley Gipson said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was on scene investigating, along with alligator trappers, Gipson said.

Officers and trappers were searching with flashlights for the gator, the Sentinel reported.

Barnett Park is located near the Central Florida Fairgrounds.
