SEFFNER — A 50-year-old motorcylist was fatally injured Thursday when a Ford F-250 pick-up truck suddenly crossed over the median and struck her motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at about 2:18 p.m. on E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard west of Parsons Avenue. Hubert Anders, 81, of Dover was driving the pick-up in the inside eastbound lane of MLK Boulevard,

For reasons that are not yet known, the FHP said the F-250 suddenly veered across the median, into westbound MLK Boulevard and struck a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle being operated by a 50-year-old Plant Citty woman, the FHP said. Her identity was not released.

The truck truck kept going, trooper said, then drove into two parking lots and struck a business sign and a concrete pole before stopping.

As a result of the crash, a third vehicle going west on MLK Boulevard also hit the motorcycle. The 50-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Tampa General Hospital where she was pronounced dead, the FHP said. She was wearing her helmet at the time. Anders suffered serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured. Charges may be pending, the FHP report said.
