VOLUSIA COUNTY — DNA on a doorbell led to the arrest of an Edgewater man on a charge of attempted robbery, according to Fox 35.

Jason Braun tried to break into an 81-year-old man's home in October, but the man fired several shots at Braun, scaring him away, Fox 35 reported.

When Volusia County deputies showed up, they pulled evidence from around the scene and sent it to a crime lab for further testing.

According to Fox 35, deputies said Braun was wearing gloves when he broke into the house, but he didn't put them on until after he rang the doorbell.

When lab results came back, deputies identified Braun's fingerprints and found that he was already in custody at the Volusia County jail on an unrelated crime, Fox 35 reported.
