TARPON SPRINGS — A Spring Hill teen has been arrested in the stabbing of another teen during a robbery attempt outside a gym where the victim worked.

Dedson Hallon Suas, 17, faces a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery in the attack on a 16-year-old boy at about 3:20 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of CrossFit Tarpon Springs, 41522 U.S. 19 N at Cypress Street.

Suas approached the victim as the victim stood at the back of an open CrossFit box truck, Tarpon Springs police said in an arrest affidavit. Suas pulled the victim down by his shorts, held a knife on him, began searching him and ordered him to "shake out his pants," police said.

The victim refused and Suas swung the knife, stabbing him in the upper right chest, police said. The victim fell to the ground but was able to run back into the gym, and Suas fled in a beige sport utility vehicle, police said.

A witness who copied the license tag and video from a surveillance camera helped investigators track the SUV to the home where Suas lives on Ventura Drive in Spring Hill, police said. He was taken into custody and the knife was recovered, police said.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for a stab wound that required two stitches to close, according to the affidavit.
