Think About It

Ecstatic City
Mirrored balls, spinning lights and spot lights … Oh my! Look at the images of Ecstatic City. Imagine yourself in the middle of the art. When you look at the images presented by Chris Doyle, what do you see? How does the light make you feel?  When you look at the Ecstatic City, is there a sense of movement? Write down your thoughts in a journal. Be sure to compare your thoughts about seeing the images in print to experiencing the images firsthand when you view the art in person.

Slurb
Marina Zurkow’s art has many haunting layers to it. The images presented in the poster are stagnant and one dimensional while the images in the actual art work are more dynamic. What are your thoughts about this art work? What are the effects of Zurkow’s use of light regarding depth, tone and mood? The sense of movement experienced by Slurb is different than the sense of movement in Ecstatic City. What are your thoughts about this? Write down your thoughts in a journal. Be sure to compare your thoughts about seeing the images in print to experiencing the images firsthand when you view the art in person.

Casa Magica
The depth of the imagery in Casa Magica is tremendous. Through the use of colors and textures, the artists have created several abstract ideas. What do you see when you look at the images? Casa Magica’s artistic approach changes according to the situation and structure. Form and function, the context of history, present meaning or expected future of a building or urban space, special occasions and virulent themes are elements taken into consideration in the process of creation. How is this represented in the artists’ creation for Lights on Tampa? How is this design different to the Ecstatic City? Write down your thoughts in a journal. Be sure to compare your thoughts about seeing the images in print to experiencing the images firsthand when you view the art in person.
