Coach of the Year: Greg Olsen, Calvary Christian
After a perfect 30-0 season in 2017, the Warriors were clearly the team to beat this season. They won 30 straight again, with the only loss coming in the state final against Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian. The Warriors won a state-record 60 straight games before the loss, which may not be broken for a long time. They also had to overcome the emotional loss of assistant coach Roy Halladay, who died in a November plane crash. Olsen was able to hold the team together with a beefed-up schedule that included Venice and Jesuit. They won three extra-inning games.
