RIVERVIEW – Somewhere between the pampering hand massage and the soothing hot towel treatment, you may fall into a relaxing trance. When you awaken, a Marilyn Monroe pinup will be staring you in the face, Frank Sinatra's voice piping through the surround system and the slapstick of The Three Stooges humoring you on a black and white TV screen.

Welcome to Razzledazzle Barbershop, where patrons can step right into the 1940s with a little bit of old town Chicago, a taste of the Big Apple and an actual straight edge shave with hot lather. It's the brainchild of Elena Linares, who started the concept a decade ago in Miami after owning more than a dozen Supercuts franchises. There are three Miami Razzledazzle Barbershops, one that opened last year in New York and the newest location in Winthrop Town Centre, owned and operated by Phil and Robbin Burgos, Linares' son and daughter-in-law.

"It's a unique experience," Phil Burgos said. "My mom had this vision — we used to have an Italian restaurant in Miami called Randazzo's and this was her vision — Joe DiMaggio eating spaghetti and the Godfather playing in the background."

For a decade, Linares tried to coax the couple to move from their Brandon area roots to help her run the business in Miami.

"Finally, we were ready and conveniently this spot was available in Winthrop," Robbin Burgos said. Of being one of the first tenants in Winthrop's newest building at 11296 Sullivan St. in Riverview, she said, "It's perfect for us."

Haircuts start at $20 but for $5 more, try the namesake service that includes a scalp, neck, shoulder and hand massage along with a hot or cold towel treatment. The "Razzledazzle" haircut also comes with a free drink, that Linares refers to as your choice between dark sugar or light sugar. Men can enjoy a 30-minute shave for $30.

A Grand Opening celebration is planned for March 28 from 5 – 10 p.m. where multiple local Winthrop businesses are scheduled to be on hand. Call (813) 820-3757 or visit www.RazzleDazzleBarbershop.com.
